I agree. Excessive boat speeds have been shown to produce adrenaline which 
causes increased tissue decay and some disturbing rebound effects. 
Further, the resulting endorphin overload may cause participants to make 
bad life choices, choosing to sail rather than work for a living, pay 
attention to children, or fix things around the house.

Did the club race on Wed. with me and two crew.  Winds were high, guessing 
about 20. The final leg had the wind coming off the starboard quarter, 
windex was pointing about 105 degrees.  GPS showed sustained speed of 7.0, 
with periods of 7.1 through 7.4. under main with one reef and 155 genoa! 
What a ride!  Too bad we lost :~(
