The pump on my c-27 has a separate fuse for the float operation. It's gone bad before (corroded). When this happens, the pump will operate with the control panel switch but will not operate automatically with the float. You might want to trace the wire back to see if there is an inline fuse holder with a bad fuse before you replace the float or switch..
