Mine is in the bilge. It's fused separately and runs directly to one of the the batteries so that the pump can run via the float switch even with the master switch in the off position.

I think the pump stopped working last fall. I did check the fuse in the electrical panel and it is still good. Raising the float does nothing. The float was replaced when I bought the boat in '98; the pump doesn't look much older. How do I determine whether the problem is in the float or the pump?
