I tried that on mine it didn't work but also did not bother me enough to really 
worry since it is not too unusual for a taught cable to hum like that.

The answer is to simply maintain your
standard standing rigging. This thread started with a question regarding a
redesign of standing rigging. The forward lowers were removed to and replaced
by lower side shrouds. 

 

I don’t consider the hum of the
rigging in the wind at the dock mast pumping. I have seen covered roller furled
headsails flog in the wind and that should be avoided to prevent sail and furler
damage.

 

It seems to me I can remember my brother
attaching bungee cords to his O’Day rigging every night to prevent
rigging hum while sleeping aboard.
