My '85 has two shroud sizes. I bought the Loos Gauge for the larger shroud. It will also measure the smaller, just not accurately. Find another boat that seems to sail well and measure all shrouds with one gauge, then duplicate on your boat. Off the top of my head, I used 36 for forward lower, 34 for aft lower, and 37 for upper.
Bottom line, there's no real need to buy two gauges. My 84TR has to have both type gauges. -- Lance Jones Marketing & Sales Gill North America -------------- Original message from "tom Causin" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: -------------- I can dig up a couple of spreadsheets on this but I have a question too. Am I right in recalling that the older C27's use two shroud thicknesses? AND the Loos guage stops at the thinner diameter (lowers) and the larger loos guage starts at the thicker diameter? (upper shroud) SO I NEED TO HAVE BOTH to properly measure? #u$K! (pardon my special use of the shift key!!) Tom C West River, Md. Anyone out ther made your own Guage? We are just talking getting a fairly accurate tension on both sides of the boat here unless you are gonna race right? I let my loos go with my Soling years ago. Rudy B advised the uppers should be 640 and the lowers 400 and he experienced no sag at 20+ kts. Gerry B. advised 200 lowers and uppers 600 and then sail in 15 kts and if sag take them up evenly a little at a time until no sag is noticed. John In a message dated 7/7/2008 3:41:39 P.M.
