On that note, I LOVE my Raymarine depth and speed instruments...large, easy to
see backlit displays, with no extraneous garbage to clutter the display.

Having been in the marine electronics biz, I can tell you that the Combi unit
started off as junk and went down hill from there. I have seen the wind
direction indicator destroy it self sailing dead down wind 'cause the  pointer
can't pass thru 180 degrees apparent wind but has to go all the way back
around. We were sailing in a channel with the breeze dead astern and after
the Combi "jibed" itself about 10 times in as many seconds it gave up for dead.
I know of no one who would service them..
A piece of lexan over the hole will serve as a good mount for a  B&G or
Raymarine system.

This is probably a wasted post, but does anyone have any experience with the
IMI Combi electronics?  I believe it is International Marine.  My thirty year
old boat has a big display unit on the starboard bulkhead, and pretty good
sized panel in the cabin, and a transducer in the hull.  They all look as old
as the boat which obviously makes them questionable.  I haven’t messed with
them to see if they have power to them or would power up other than flipping
switches which do nothing.  I haven’t been able to find any trace of the
company on line.  I doubt they are worth repairing if they are repairable but
to remove the display unit would leave a hole that is much bigger than anything
I would replace it with.  Without putting a tape measure on it I would guess
the thing is about 5”h X 12” w.  Does anyone still work on them on would the
cost to repair be a lot higher than something new?

Thanks!
