New England Rope 5/16 Sta-set X @ .68 / foot or 5/16 Sta-Set @ .61 / foot.
I just quickly Googled it to get some pricing so don't pay more. Even a
cruiser will befit from spending the extra $6 per halyard to have your sail
stay in trim more often.

I am thinking of replacing the halyard for the mailsail.

I am just a cruiser with no interest in racing the boat. (Nothing wrong with
racing, I'm just a Sunday driver...) I was thinking of a rope only solution
just to save a couple bucks. Would your recommendation be to replace with a
wire rope solution?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Steve

witch halyard are you replacing? you may not want to use rope due to
excessive stretch.

I am thinking of replacing a wire and rope halyard with rope only. If I do
this, will I have to replace the sheave as well?

Also, how long will this need to be if I want to run the halyard back to the
cockpit?

Thanks,

Steve
