I am beginning to think I may have to scrap the electric power idea for now. The biggest outboad I can find is 6hp, and the inboard conversion with adequate power would end up costing me close to $18,000. I have trouble believeing I would spend that much in gas over my LIFETIME to justify the conversion. If prices fall somewhere back to planet Earth, then maybe...

We have been told not to use anything with less power and our experience backs that up - we can get 5.5 knots with this motor and it's nice and quiet, as well as being fuel-efficient. Don't know enough about electric motors but they no doubt are the future motive power - the question is, do they have enough muscle (in their present state of development) to do the job of pushing 6500 pounds through the water?
