Dear Friends:

A good day but not a good night for Adam. Tonight, Adam began to vomit and
ended up pulling his breathing tube out. This is a very common reflex as the
tube gives the sensation of choking and when a person is half sedated they do
not realize what they are doing.

The medical staff tried to let him stay off the vent but he had the same
trouble he did two weeks ago in that his throat began to swell. They
reinstalled
the breathing tube and he is still mostly breathing on his own. They had
hoped that they would have been able to get him off the vent because he has
been
taking in large volumes of air and his oxygen levels have been great.

It is now highly probable that they will do a tracheotomy in the next two
days (Monday was mentioned). Studies show patients do better coming off the
ventilator with a tracheotomy and if this is what is needed then we will be OK
with that.

It took several "fixes" for Adam's aorta and we guess it will take a few
"fixes" for his breathing.

It is a difficult thing to walk into your son's room after a good day to find
it filled with medical staff scrambling around him. Adam's lungs now sound
wet and they will do a CATscan in the morning to see if he aspirated any
vomit. However, initial suctions didn't produce any indication that this
happened. They will do aggressive therapy on his lungs tonight and continue
suctioning off the fluid.

They are waiting to do the Catscan because they are pumping out his stomach
in order to give him the dye that is needed for contrast in the scan.

The nurses say he is stable. When asked if they were nervous the nurses all
said, "No, he's all right. We'll keep a close eye on him."

Pray Adam's lungs will clear up, the right decision be made regarding his
breathing tube (whatever that decision is), the Holy Spirit will bring peace
and
comfort to Adam, and for God's blessings on those who attend
him....especially, Roy and Mehgan who are working with him to clean him up and
do his lung
therapy.

God has certainly used you to support us and we thank HIm for each one of
you.

 I waited patiently for the LORD;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
       out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
       Many will see and fear
and put their trust in the LORD.
Psalm 40 (NIV)
