I converted my ice chest to a freezer with a holding plate. I drilled holes
in the outside (which would be the port side of the chest). I could access
its bottom from my basement, and its forward side through the under stove
area, the sink area through the sink and its aft side through the sink cutout.

I used an insulating foam produced by Hilti.

David,
Which sides of the ice chest did you drill holes into. I can get to the
starboard, forward, and bottom of the ice chest. The port side is tough,
planned on using foam; aft side is inaccessible except for drilling.
What type of foam did you use?

Layout
I drilled holes in the ice chest and sprayed insulation into the void
surrounding the chest then plugged the holes with plastic caps.

One of my winter projects is to replace the galley sink drain and insulate
the cooler in my '79 traditional layout. Any advice on getting access to
these?

It looks like I have to take the whole galley cabinet out, but I wanted to
confirm that. I took all the screws out that I could see holding that in,
but it appears that there are more on the aft end that I am missing because
that side is pretty tight yet.

There is a wooden bulkhead on the forward end of the port lazerette that
prevents me from getting to the aft side of the cabinet, so I am hoping the
screws are all inside the cabin. The battery charger and shore power
breaker and wiring is all attached to that bulkhead, so it would be a pain
to remove. Any hints and tricks are appreciated.
