Hi Jon, I used this method on SeaQuin IV, my 74 C27 about a dozen years ago. First we put pipe insulation around the electrical wiring first and used the “zap strap” ties about a foot or a bit more apart. We had the mast off at the time so we were able to make sure internal halyards ran free around the ties. Since then I have replaced all the halyards by securing the old/new halyards tightly and pulling the new one through. No problems so far. I will admit there is a bit of slap coming back when we are sitting at anchor but not too bad yet. I’d say that a dozen years is pretty good for a “cheap” fix.

The wires are still quiet. No clanging whatsoever. I set the ties each foot or so and in addition to creating a sturdy harness, the tie tails, which are about six inches long have held the weight of the wires. Electrical ties seem like a perfect solution to me. Of course, my halyards are external.
