Encouraging any user, particularly new users, to select a package based on a 5-point abstract rating system and a couple of user comments is doing them a dis-service.

Selecting open source packages to use is one of the more difficult tasks a developer who chooses to use them can face. Encouraging them *not* to do their own research (find the issue tracker, see what issues are open, see how active the mailing list is, see when releases were last made, see if the maintainer is responsive, etc) seems like an extremely bad idea.
