Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)
------------


     10/2: The AMERICAN AVOCET continues at Knox-Marsellus Marsh along with 
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER and RED-NECKED PHALAROPE. The 
YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was relocated on VanDyne Spoor Road. A NELSON’S SPARROW 
was seen at the beginning of the dyke there also.
     10/5: Up to 3 NELSON’S SPARROWS were seen at various times at Marten’s 
Tract in the weeds south of the dirt road. The YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was also 
seen at different times in the marsh on the south side of VanDyne Spoor Road. A 
BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT HERON was spotted also. The bird of the day was a WESTERN 
KINGBIRD found on VanDyne Spoor Road just north of Railroad Road. Unfortunately 
the bird moved on in less than two hours. 5 Warbler species and the AMERICAN 
AVOCET were seen at Towpath Road. 5 Shorebird species including LONG-BILLED 
DOWITCHER were seen in LaRue’s.
     10/7: An adult FRANKLIN’S GULL was found at Knox-Marsellus Marsh. The 
AMERICAN AVOCET, LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER and SANDHILL CRANE were also seen.
     10/8: The FRANKLIN’S GULL continues at Knox-Marsellus Marsh.


Oneida County
------------
     10/2: An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was found on Miller Road in the Town of 
Blossvale.


Oswego County
------------

     10/2: A PARASITIC JAGER was seen at Derby Hill. Also seen were 2 PEREGRINE 
FALCONS and a MERLIN.
     10/4: 2 VIRGINIA RAILS and a SORA were found at the County Route 6 wetland 
north of County Route 3.
     10/6: A RED PHALAROPE was seen at Derby Hill.
     10/7: A flock of 940 BRANT was seen at Selkirk Shores State Park. An 
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was seen om Halsey Road.
     10/8: 50 PINE SISKINS were seen in Williamstown. An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER 
was found in Hastings. Another was found in Mexico


Onondaga County
------------

     10/3: 2 GREATER SCAUP were seen on Onondaga Lake
     10/6: 14 RING-NECKED DUCKS were seen on Tully Lakes.
     10/7: 50 PINE SISKINS were seen on East Sorrell Hill Road south of 
Baldwinsville. The same group was observed today.
     10/8: An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was found under the power lines at Three 
Rivers WMA norht of Baldwinsville.
