Interesting. For what it's worth, I had my first American Tree Sparrow of the fall here at Sapsucker Woods on October 31, and I have seen them every day since then in the Ithaca area and north to Montezuma and the Lake Ontario shore. There have been groups of 40+ along Towpath Road since at least November 9 (with fewer individuals at least as early as November 2), and they have been present and audible at almost every location in the Ithaca area with suitable habitat I have visited since about November 8.
