Greetings: This is the Syracuse Area Rare Bird Alert for the week of July  08, 
2019

Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)

     Shorebirds are starting to show up at the complex. 8 of the more common 
species were noted this week.

     7/13: 4 CERULEAN WARBLERS were found at the forested area of Armitage Road.

     7/15: 3 SANDHILL CRANES, 24 BLACK TERNS, a BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON and a 
FISH CROW were all found at the Sandhill Crane Unit south of VanDyne Spoor Road.







Cayuga County

     7/12: A WHIMBREL was seen at West Barrier Bar Park in Fair Haven.







Onondaga County

------------




     7/8:  A PECTORAL SANDPIPER was found on the West Shore Trail of Onondaga 
Lake.

     7/11: A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen on Jefferson Street in Syracuse.

     7/14: 13 COMMON GALLINULES including 8 young were seen along the West 
Shore Trail of Onondaga Lake. A SEDGE WREN was found singing in the big field 
area east of 60 Road in Three Rivers WMA north of Baldwinsville.







Madison County

     7/15: A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was found on Mason Hill in Hamilton.







Herkimer County

------------




     7/13: A FISH CROW was heard on Earl Road in Richfield Springs. A 
GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was found on Vanvalkenburg Road in Richfield Springs.
