Adriaan and I looked it up while we were there at East Shore Park – that’s why I walked down to talk to the duck hunters. I pointed out the Harlequin to them (it was close on the water!), and they seemed pretty excited and aware that it was rare. That’s not to say it won’t get shot inadvertently as it flies back and forth with other ducks – hence the comment in my checklist.
