dear all
so thanks to everybody who has so far sent me ideas and thoughts about the
Iraqi meeting. Above all, thanks so much for the enthusiasm that many of you
have shown vis-a-vis the idea of celebrating our regional meeting in Iraq

So now we have to organize this a bit and I need your quick help. As you
might imagine, it`s not easy to get to Iraq and we have to work on a number
of issues (the most urgent being the visa, but then the logistic of your
travels) and put a program together

I really like Habib`s suggestion to work on some basic points which I will
recap once again here below with my comments in yellow. I would be grateful
if each of you individuals/teams interested in joining the meeting would be
so kind to send me his/her/their application by next Sunday 27 March cause,
as I said, we have really to run to process visa and stuff. As said before,
travel, insurance, accommodation will be taken care of and also an
honorarium is assigned to those who will actively do the workshops and train
other people.

Please indicate your nationality and enclose a passport scan to your
application.

a - Have a country quota to ensure fair participation from all

so far, I have counted the following countries where we do have communities
or individuals that are very active on CC and open source side:
Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia, Morocco, UAE, Qatar, Palestine
Please, if you think that there are other countries that we should add let
me know asap (of course, we are talking about countries where there are, if
not communities, at least individuals that are active and interested in CC
and "openness")
In each of these above mentioned countries we could invite 2 to 3 people in
order to have a country quota represented in the regional meeting
As I said in my first email, the idea is not simply to have a meeting with
representatives from each country, but proper workshops and hands-on
sessions (how to apply CC to music, visual arts, education etc) and stuff to
do together..
To this respect, it would be great if all the people that are applying to
join the meeting can present a workshop proposal in his/her area

b - Ask for a short paragraph describing workshop they plan to give
or why they should attend

we can accept workshops proposals from individuals but also from a team,
from the same country or cross-country

c - Short paragraph on previous engagement with CC or Open related
events/projects

d - A couple of contacts as references

just if you have worked with other people before, pls list this and send
also weblinks of stuff you have done

e - Pledge to evangelize and help an artist, developer, journalist
etc.. in their own community to convert their work to CC

Those are my initial quick thoughts,

Best,
H
