Dear Riyadh, I understand your comment about the poor awareness of IP issues in general and copyright in particular and not to mention the CC, openness, commons etc. however, cannot really say that there is no debate at all about copyright in fact there are few studies and events where those issues were discussed in the Arab world of good authors here is Dr. M. El Said but unfortunately cannot find his work online but I have the books. also there was a study about copyright and development in Arabic and was quoted in many other studies. this study was part of the A2K project of the Library of Alexandria. and here is the link: http://www.bibalex.org/a2k/attachments/references/reffileabuput55g4kzfh55mzm45feh.pdf it is about the Eg. law but the argument can be valid for other Arab countries that has same discussions and situation.
