Hi Visakh, Thanks for your interest in CC GSoC (and sorry for the delayed reply). I think getting ccPublisher updated to Python 2.6, wxPython 2.8 and "modern" versions of the Zope dependencies would be a good starting point. Since we did ccPublisher Zope has begun shipping eggs for their dependencies, so using those instead of including our own would be a good idea. The torrent idea is an interesting one and I think it'd be a nice extension. That said, the extensibility story has never really been fleshed out so you may run into some obstacles there.
If you have other specific questions, please don't hesitate to let us know. Looking forward to seeing your proposal; Nathan 2009/3/31 vishakh harikumar <[email protected]>: > hello > > i hope to work on updating CcPublisher as described at > (http://wiki.creativecommons.org/CcPublisher_Refresh_and_Update) > ive been reading about wxpython and zope interfaces so i can understand the > code (but am already busy so its slow work) and figure out feasibility and > timelines on my end. > i understand it is built to be extendible, so making sure that creating > extensions easily will be feature of new version > people are generating a lot of media these days and i think making sure that > they can easily tag their work with the cc license (or another similar free > license), what ever kind of media it is and release it to their audience is > important. > thus creating an extension that creates a .torrent file to be posted on a > tracker will also be useful (because torrents are so popular these days). > > any other requirements, ideas or comments are welcome > thanks > > _______________________________________________ > cc-devel mailing list > [email protected] > http://lists.ibiblio.org/mailman/listinfo/cc-devel > > _______________________________________________ cc-devel mailing list [email protected] http://lists.ibiblio.org/mailman/listinfo/cc-devel
