Hello people from the list. I am having and issue connection two 2620's back-to-back over a serial pipe (DCE-DTE) using either PPP or HDLC as the encapsulation protocol.
When I connect the two routers using S0/0 on router "A" and S0/1 on router "B" the connection comes up with either L2 encap. protocols. I can see each other through CDP, etc. In this config, I get interface UP and Line Protocol UP. When I connect the two routers using the same interface type/number on both sides (IE S0/1 on router "A" and S0/1 on router "B"), the connection does not come up 100%. I see the interface UP but the line protocol is DOWN on both sides. Of course, I am setting the clock rate on the DCE side, and when I turn on debugging for PPP events, I see the following: LCP: Timeout: State ACKsent LCP: State is Listen Both routers are 2620's and running IOS 12.3. This is the config on the interfaces in question: interface Serial0/1 no ip address encapsulation ppp no peer neighbor-route (I can have this command on or off without difference) In the Lab that I am currently working on, this is the physical connection to be used and also I have seen this same setup on other documents without any reference to a problem with using the same interface type/number on both sides. If I change the interface on either side (EI S0/0 - S0/1), the pipe comes up fully. Does anybody have a clue about this? Thanks in advanced! ____________________________________________________________________________________ Don't pick lemons. See all the new 2007 cars at Yahoo!
