Two words.... Rack Rental. Or Proctor Labs. :) You can actually do a
good chunk of things with the core technologies on your gear. Even
switching things, the 3550 is still on the lab, they've just added more!
(3560 is a bit different mostly in QoS). But spanning-tree is still
spanning-tree no matter how you slice it.

Do much of your core studies on your gear. Make notes of things that don't
work. Target studying them with rented rack time.

You can rent LOTS of time and still save money over purchasing equipment!
:)

Best of luck, and glad to have you back!

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_RS] Here we go again

Hi everybody and it feels good to be back. I haven't studied for the CCIE
in over 5 years, this time I plan on finishing it. I have a couple
questions I'm hoping that one of you can answer to get me started on the
right foot. I bought the IPexpert lab deal, too good to pass up IMO. I
have an old school rack, I'm talking 2500s, a couple 2600s, ISDN smiulator,
etc. Looking at the lab book diagram, looks like I'm outdated and those
2811s and 3800s aren't cheap. Realistically how far I can go with my old
CCIE rack? I just loaded 12.3(24) IP PLUS on all the 2500s. I think buying
50 sessions may be the way to go, but I've already dragged my rack and all
my gear out of the attic, rack mounted it, cabled it, upgraded, frame
relayed it, and started playing with the CORE prots. One difference I
noticed is my old IE workbooks required two 3550s, looks like 4 now,
interesting.... Any wisdom is greatly appreciated and hope to get the
workbook soon and knock this out fast. Thanks in advance.
