Jason,

I had the same problem connecting my 3550 switch with 2509 access server. But I got arround this problem by connecting my switch to last two 7 or 8th port of my access server. Sometimes I have to clear line 7 or line 8 in my access server to make it work. Hope this will help you.

Thanks,
Ashwani

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_RS] Access Server problems

I hate when I see people try to use the forum as tech support, but this
is directly related to training so...

I have a 2511-RJ acting as an access server for a few routers and trying
to throw a switch in there. I can honestly say that I've never
connected a Cat switch to an access server before but I can't imagine
it'd be any different than a router. Well as it would turn out, I cant
get a console connection to the switch through the 2511. I can console
to the switch directly from my laptop and I can connect a router to the
same port of the access server using the same cable with out a problem.
I've blown the config on the switch, and (this is the interesting part)
I've connected 2 other Cat switches (3 total a 3550, a 2750 and 4006) to
that same access server and had the same problem. So it looks like any
router I connect works fine, any switch, I get notta.

Anyone care to enlighten me? Feel free to point and laugh....

Jason Morris
