Hi all,
I'm putting together some notes based on the 3560 configuration guide and
came across configuring protected ports in the "port-based traffic control"
section of the guide. While I understand the concept and configuration, I'm
trying to understand the nuances between protected ports and p-vlan isolated
ports and how this would be applied to a question on the lab exam.

>From reading the config guide, the only differences I see are:

   - the ability to configure the protected port feature on etherchannel
interfaces, which the p-vlan feature lacks
   - protected ports are only locally significant on a switch, where if I
have two switches trunked together, protected ports on one switch would be
able to communicate with protected ports off the adjacent switch (assuming
the trunk is an unprotected port)

Am I correct in stating the only major difference is protected ports are
locally significant and p-vlan isolated ports span the entire L2 domain?

Thanks,

Steve
