Either way will work.
 
So it just depends on the requirements.
 
Normally you should use Virtual Links.
 
But there might be a requirement that explicitly says: "do not use VLs"
 
In that case, well you have no other choice but to use Tunnels!

In ospf domain, to connect area x to backbone area it's better to configure 
virtual link or tunnel interface and put it in area 0.

i mean, to connect an area to area 0, when we choose to configure virtual link 
and when we choose to configure tunnel interface?
