It is good to check if proxy arp is enable on R2 ethernet interface.

I might be wrong but isn't load balancing based on CEF which does the
balancing on a hash of the Source/Destination IP, thereby it would follow
only one of the routes each time as the source/destination IP hash does not
change.

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_RS] Static route Selection
Hi All,
I have one doubt in static route selection.
Please see my attached network diagram.
Between R1 and R2, one is serial link and one is ethernet.
If I configure R1 as
ip route 2.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 se0/0
ip route 2.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 20.0.12.2
then I see traceroute to 2.2.2.2 is load balanced on both links
R1(config)#do tr 2.2.2.2
Type escape sequence to abort.
Tracing the route to 2.2.2.2
1 20.0.12.2 164 msec
10.0.12.2 140 msec *
but If I configure on R1 as below then traceroute to 2.2.2.2 follows serial
link only
ip route 2.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 10.0.12.2
ip route 2.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 e1/0
R1(config)#do tr 2.2.2.2
Type escape sequence to abort.
Tracing the route to 2.2.2.2
1 10.0.12.2 196 msec * 140 msec
Could anyone please clear what is happening here ?
