Hi, In the subjected question I am trying to peer between R1 and R5 and the peering won't come up "because" they can't even ping each other. Now my investigation is that in question 1.2 it is asked to use rapid-pvst on Cat 1 and mst on Cat 2, Cat 3 and Cat 4. Cat 2 is the root for vlan 34 (the vlan connecting R5 and R1) so is Cat 1.
This is the connectivity (frame moving): R5 -> Cat3 -> Cat2 (MST ROOT) -> Cat1 -> R1 The frame would travel over Cat 3 to Cat 2 and if we I do sh span mst 0 ... I don't see the trunk port going to Cat 1 as part of the spanning-tree hence the failure in ping and ospf peering between R1 and R5. Question: Is there a way to make it work sticking to the guideline? Can someone please answer? Thanks. Regards, Samir Idris
