Bc = CIR/Tc Be = AR-CIR/Tc
Tc =number of intervals per second 8 or every 125ms for Data based traffic shaping 100 or every 10ms for Voice based traffic shaping The question doesn't state whether or not you need to account for data or voice traffic so it assuming just data traffic thus 7000000/8 = 875000 If you were accounting for Voice traffic it would need to be 7000000/100 = 70000 See the output of "show traffic-shaping interface x/x" Regards, Tyson Scott - CCIE #13513 R&S, Security, and SP Managing Partner / Sr. Instructor - IPexpert, Inc. In my configs I only specified the bit rate like this interface FastEthernet0/1 traffic-shape group 101 7000000 After looking at this I believe now that my answer is wrong because if I look at the running-config for this interface I see the following interface FastEthernet0/1 ip address 150.100.221.7 255.255.255.0 traffic-shape group 101 7000000 175000 175000 1000 The question said we should use no "excess burst" however looking at the interface configuration I see an excess burst of 175000 which auto populated itself. The DSG also states that the numbers are given to us; however the burst size was never specified in the question. So my question is how does one come up with this number? The DSG shows it as 875000, but does it matter what we put here?
