Hey guys, I did a 2 router eigrp test lastnight, just a basic setup with a direct connection and 2 loopbacks .. then i turned on auto-summary and i got an big ugly /8 instead of the loopback ip /32's i had before.. so working as intended..
But tonight i had a few more routers where i was distributing between ospf rip and eigrp .. i was practicing ways to prevent looping and how to debug and verify proper distribution.. i decided to test turning on auto-summary.. and.. for some reason, it does nothing. It should mess up everything and add ugly /8´s .. but it didn´t do squat.. and i got no error message in the logs.. not really sure why IOS is choosing to ignore the auto-summary command. I booted the routers with 3 different versions of IOS so it sure seems to be working as intended.. I´m too tired to figure out why this is happening tonight so thought i´d ask here.. (i confirmed from two others that had noticed similar behavior). Bestu kveðjur / Regards Áki H.
