My 2 cents on the ipad/mobile issue (it's been discussed so much lately)

All this would be un needed, if IPX would just  code an app for it. I'm working
on an app that does just this (cross platform droid/apple mobile devies) for a
client,  and it's a bit of work. Not as bad if you know programming in java/ob
C, lua, c++ etc.ient and it's been done many many times before by others....so
the writing is on the wall. It's the same situation with books on paper vs a
nook, kindle, ipad etc. That is the direction people are going, and people are
ditching companies who don't give them what they want :)

One of the main challenges I had studying is this having to deal with it, so I
had to be "creative" and do things to view what I want when I want......if
someone would do this for us then these discussions wouldn't occur would they?

For those that are interested, you can code in either xcode + objective C OR
use something like appcelerator which has a IDE that's based on some java and
you can write screens, embed video and link them to external resources etc.

But in respect to IPX, discussion of such things shouldn't be brought up here
since essentially you are hacking the product, which is something I am sure the
owners don't like :)

However, if they (IPX) took measures to further themselves in the marketplace,
they should consider doing something like this to stay relevant. Obviously,
this is a big question, I see it asked all the time (viewing on mobile devices)
and it basically forces people to hack things since there isn't another way to
access material while out and about. Opening up a PDF and leaving it open
doesn't count :).

Hi Mikel,

You can't connect the HDD to an iPAD directly so you need to upload them via
iTunes to your PC and sync your iPAD.  (In otherwords transfer them to the iPAD)

If they don't work, or you want smaller files, one thing you can do is convert
the video through an open source program called "Handbrake" to re-encode them.
It doesnt take too long (PC power depending) and you can batch them up over
night if necessary.  Each file can be reduced in size by rescaling to a smaller
resolution without much loss in quality.  I have done this for all my training
videos without any problems.  Obviously test with the smaller videos to see
what works for you.

PDF's work well - I have many CCIE reading materials on mine.

Liqua.
