Hi List,

I'm having a very strange issue with some very basic PPPoE config. Vol 3
Lab Task 2.4

When I initially went through the task, I had configured everything just as
the DSG had configured it. And the pppoe session comes up without any
issues. However, it says to NOT assign the IP via IPCP, so we simply use
DHCP. So I configure my DHCP server and exclude every IP except the one
that's supposed to go to R7, but this is what the debugs show when the
discover goes out from R7 to R6 ....

R6 - DHCP Server

On R7, my f0/0 interface is 000a.b71e.0120 which you can see in the debug
is not getting an address because something has already claimed it. The
dialer1 interface never receives the IP. A "sho ip int brief" on R7 doesn't
have any interface with the IP, so what is grabbing the IP before the
virtual-access bound to dialer1 gets a chance?? I know it's whatever that
ridiculously long client id is ... but what is that and where did it come
from??
