Hi all,Quick question. Was doing a lab today and found that PPPoE dialer and
PPPoE virtual-template interfaces could not ping themselves, but could ping
their partner. I found a post on a Cisco support forum that said that (sort of
like with frame where you map your own IP address onto a DLCI), it should
forward the ping to its PPP partner who would send it back again. This did not
appear to happen. I saw elsewhere in the study list, that if you wanted
self-ping, you could put the IP on a loopback and use ip unnumbered on the
dialer / virtual-template. Is there any other way to do this, other than move
the IP? If a lab demands IPs on dialer/virtual-templates and "full
reachability" and no new interfaces, is there a way to accomplish both without
resorting to a new loopback? Thanks, George.
