I'm pretty sure I also used backdoor on that one. Far more elegant. Frankly, IMO, the issues in the TS labs are pretty good exercises, but the solutions are all too often "we don't need this, tear it out," which doesn't fly in the real lab.
My answers to the V3 TS labs often differed quite a bit from the DSG, trying to minimize removal and for what it's worth I passed the TS section when I took the lab a few months ago.
