Split-Horizon
I was going through material that suggested that because of the metric
EIGRP uses split-horizon as a bandwidth prevention method, instead of an
actual loop issue.

Can someone actually think of a topology example or web-article where
disabling split-horizon on RIP or EIGRP would actually be detrimental?
