Hi all

Thanks for your responses.  I guess I would be safe to say that because each 
vlan is an independent broadcast domain we can effectively use the same mac 
address on different vlans without fear of overlapping.

Hi Wilson,

As soon as the router's physical interface sees its MAC address in the header 
of the frame, it strips the layer 2 encapsulation (thereby terminating the 
VLAN), so there's no need for unique MACs on each subinterface - it'd only 
waste resources.  The router then forwards the layer 3 packet to the outgoing 
(sub)interface…
