Hi

Our lab has been using GRASP for making surface maps. But since we'r
slowly retiring our SGI, and GRASP only runs only SGI, what other programs
are there for making surface maps? that's easy to use and free!
Thanks

Andrew

Hi Andrew!
I use POVSCRIPT+ in combination with APBS. APBS will calculate the potential for your surface. POVSCRIPT+ is able to read the generated dx files of APBS. You can map this potential to a surface calculated with POVSCRIPT+ via the gensurf command or map it to a MSMS generated surface. Since MSMS is much faster than POVSCRIPT+ in generating surfaces we often use this combination. But if you have big surfaces the gensurf command seems to be more stable. Beware the APBS files are big.

Christian
