The Max Planck Institute for Medical Research has opening for an Independent Junior Research Group (Selbstständige Nachwuchsgruppe der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft). This offer includes, in addition to the group leader position, funding for a research group.
While there is no explicit restriction on the research area, there is the
expectation that the successful candidate will interact synergistically with
other groups and departments at the institute. Currently there are four
departments at the Institute with interests including biomolecular mechanisms,
molecular neurobiology, biomedical optics, and cellular physiology (for more
information see http://www.mpimf-heidelberg.mpg.de). Heidelberg is one of the
top centres for biomedical research in Germany and there are many opportunities
for interactions with the University, including the possibility to obtain an
appointment as a Juniorprofessor.
Funding is guaranteed for five years with the possibility of extension. The Max
Planck Society is an equal opportunity employer. Applications by female
scientists are encouraged.
