I like the way Tektronix handled this issue in the 8560 (service manual on Bitsavers). They produced a 60Hz supply by chopping rectified and smoothed mains, thus the incoming mains frequency does not matter. An 8560 will work in the States or in Europe with no pulley changes. -tony >
