That's probably true for every distributor. However, when I first proposed dropping the Solaris builds (back around 1.0.2 IIRC) to make way for Mac,
there were howls of protest - "Drop something else, but NOT Solaris,
please!". fortunately, I was able to get a tool which allowed me to strip duplicate files and replace them with links, thus shrinking the image by
around 45 MB.

Actually Alex,

I can understand their position now. Sun are a significant stakeholder, by virtue of their contribution, and for us to drop support for their flagship product would be an ungrateful slap in the face. I have adjusted my view, as a rsult of this realisation, and so now I will keep a Solaris version of OOo on my hard disk in case I get a request for it. Just my way of saying "thanks". I actually got very excited about all of this back at Star Office 5.2, which had amazing integration of features, well beyond the imagination of the Redmond crew.
