Well if it worked for you that does not mean that everything is OK.

If cdrecord cannot get the reason for a failing command things may (not must)
go wrong. This is the reason why I created the scgcheck program.
It helps you to test your system for correct behaviour in non-error and
on error situations.


As the SCSI structures are not filled out correctly, any software - 
regardless whether it is inside or outside the kernel may be at least
irritated.
