I will answer in reverse order ;)
If you want _song names_ to be available on the CD, you must use the
CDTEXT feature. So your recorder must allow to write CDTEXT info.
If you have a CD with CDTEXT info, it will probably show on new audio cd
players. Your CDROM probably can't read this info (schilling can correct
me here ;), but your recorder perhaps can. The problem is that most
(any?) cd player programs try to read this info, instead, the look for
the cddb to see if they can find the disk id.
