Is that really a big problem ? If cdrecord would support this there would be 
no more need for cdrdao i think ?
I can copy a data disk with cdrecord  -isosize /dev/hdc or somethink similar.
Why not write an audio cd with an command like 
cdrecord --audio `cdda2wav ....`   or a pipe, maybe using a tool to wirte a 
toc/cd-text for the disc before ?
this would make cdrecord be the killer-app
