When we have an opportunity to visit our alma mater, we expect to have a pleasant homecoming even if it is not Dec. 8. That is what we expected last Saturday, July 20, 2013 when we were recruited as the driver of our daughter, Cuchie, College '93. She had a mini reunion with her Tanghalan Ateneo friends. And so, she went to watch a play from 2 - 430 p. m. We used Gate 2. We identified ourselves and were able to go in without having to leave an ID. We went out via the same gate without any problem. However, when we had to fetch Cuchie, my son, Lucky, GS '94, drove my car. Again we used Gate 2. This time they asked for ID. Lucky gave his company ID but they wanted his liscense. He explained that his liscence was stuck in his wallet but he was willing to leave his entire wallet which they refused. So, I told them that we will just wait there at the gate until the matter was resolved. So, I asked for their superior to talk to. While they told us to go to the side, we backed out and proceeded to Gate 3. Since, we expected the same discourteous unwelcome, I asked my daughter to walkout to Gate 3. To our surprise, the Gate 2 guards were willing to get Lucky;s company ID. Why do we have to surrender drivers' liscenses and risk losing them? Hoping for a more pleasant visit next time. Linggoy, GS '62, HS '66 & would have been C '70
