chay ...

it is unfortunate that you never took your political hat off when obamacare was
enacted ...

I personally expected you as someone from the insurance industry to provide an
authoritative analyses of how this law was promoted from the perspective of an
insurance person instead of a political person ...

not from the perspective of what the other parties are now saying about what he
said then ...

I personally support obamacare ... I dont particularly agree on how they
promoted or sold it to the american people ...

Subject: Obama's promises

It is unfortunate that the conversation is now about whether Obama lied in his
marketing of Obamacare.

Considering that George Bush is widely perceived as having lied about Iraq's
weapons of mass destruction in the selling of the Iraq war, it is easy to see
how the American public would be predisposed to conclude that Obama did in fact
lie.

Let me provide some perspective on this issue.  I was a Prudential agent for
thirteen years and one of the products I sold was health insurance.  As a
health insurance agent I encountered many policies out in the field that were
junk policies.  There were cancer policies, which paid only if the insured got
sick or died of cancer.  There were accident policies - the so-called piano
death policies - which paid only if the insured dies from a piano falling on
him.  I know, it's an exaggeration, but you catch the drift.

Someone like Obama, who had no background in insurance, would not be expected
to know that there are such junk policies being sold in the health insurance
market.

His statement, that no one had to change their insurance if they liked their
insurance, should never have been uttered.  Not the way he said it.  What he
should have said was that for 95% of Americans, that would be true.  But for
the 5% who happen to have junk policies, the statement would not be true,
because Obamacare requires that health insurance policies comply with the
minimum requirements of the law.

Obama should go before the American people and explain that he was not aware
that there were sub-standard policies that would be rendered illegal by the new
law.  He must admit that he screwed up because he should have been aware of
that fact and that his advisers should have informed him of that fact.

He must also apologize to the millions of Americans who are losing their
doctors.  And this happens not to be Obama's fault.  People are losing their
doctors because of the continuing flux in the health insurance market.  Doctors
continue to go in and out of the provider rolls as insurance companies
retrench.  Doctors die, change their affiliations, opt in and out of health
insurance company rolls.

I had to change my main doctor twice in one year because my original doctor
opted out of United Health Care Medicare Advantage.  The doctor I replaced him
with was fired by his group.  My new doctor is a D.O., a doctor of osteopathy,
and not an internist.

You would think that my health is in danger now because a D.O. does not know as
much as an internist when it comes to diseases of the internal organs.  But
because he is not an internist, he listens to his patients more than an
internist would.  He has sent me recently to a complete checkup that includes
expensive tests which an internist might not have sent me to because internists
think they know more about how I actually feel than I do.

In any case, Obama has to go before the American people and fess up.  He cannot
just keep quiet and wish that it would all go away.

If you don't contradict all the negative commentary out there, it eventually
takes on the Halloween costume of truth.  Obama should know this.  By not
calling out the birthers who claimed that he was born in Kenya and was a
practicing Muslim as soon as the hyenas started to howl, a lot of people
started to believe all the canard was true.  It took some doing before he got
that crying baby to rest.
