PRESS RELEASE

We, the members of the Constitutional Review Committee that was duly
constituted by the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) at its Annual
General Meeting that was held in Salima on 16th November 2013, met with
FIFA delegation which included, James Johnson, Ashford Mamelodi and Salome
Stahli on 21st and 22nd November 2013 at Chiwembe Technical Center in
Blantyre to review FAM statutes and align them to FIFA Standard Statutes.
This review has been necessitated by the obligation placed on all 209
member associations of FIFA to ratify statutes in accordance with the FIFA
Standard Statutes following a decision of the FIFA Congress that was held
in Mauritius in May 2013. The proposals that have been agreed upon between
the Committee and the FIFA delegation will be sent to FIFA for their
approval before the final draft of the Statutes are adopted by FAM at an
extra Ordinary General Meeting specifically constituted for that process.
The following road map has been agreed upon in finalizing the process:
09/12/2013: FIFA will send the finalised draft of the Statutes and the
Electoral Code to FAM.
31/01/2014: The Constitutional Review Committee will present the draft
Statutes to FAM Executive Committee.
01/02/2014 to 31/03/2014: The Committee will, among others, conduct
consultative meetings involving different stakeholders (including
Government, Sports Council and the Media) on the new Statutes.
05/2014 : FAM will hold an Extraordinary General Meeting to adopt the new
statutes.
06/2014 to 09/2014: FAM will help the affiliates to review their statutes
in line with the new FAM Statutes.
11/2014: FAM will hold an Annual General Meeting to, among other things,
ratify nomination of the Judicial and Electoral organs of FAM as
constituted in the new Statutes.
10/2014 to 12/2014: The affiliates will finally adopt their new statutes.
11/2015 : FAM will hold an Elective Annual General Meeting to elect the
President and Executive Committee in line with the new FAM Statutes.
