It calculated the effects of light rays that bounce around in a virtual
world, that reflect on shiny surfaces, and refract and so on.  I used the
"Pawns" object supplied with the software. The following render settings
were used:

-i +v1 +ft -x +mb25 +a0.300 +j1.000
+r3 -q9 -w640 -H480 -S1 -E480 -k0.000 -mv2.0 +b1000

These results were taken directly from www.aceshardware.com
I don't use Povray, I more use Poser and Bryce 4D together.

Nope. Not good at all. 1st gen P4's seem to be fast in a few specific
instances, but overall even a cheap $80 duron can beat them. :-)

Btw. I forgot to mention I usually do 1024x768 aa0.3 for the test rendering.
What res did you use? I'm using an old p200mmx/128mb for a domain
controller. Forgot it's old score, so told it to rerender. When it gets done
(in a few hours) I'll post the timings for a base comparison. /-)
