If McCain could have raised money and built a war chest like George H. did
for his son, he could have done much better, if not have won.
GWB's dad called in a lot of markers (a former president, a former CIA
director, a former Congressman -- he has some clout) to raise money for his
son.
The Bush's know something about revenge.

Election 2000. McCain gave Bush a run for his money. If McCain would have
done better on super Tuesday, McCain would be in the White House now.
Primaries determine who gets the nod from the respective parties. Bush was
losing support fast, and big wins in super Tuesday bailed him out.
