atrocities, however we ignored the atrocities until they started to attack
militarily. Europe allowed Germany to put the Jews in the Ghettos, we didn't
attack Japan for what they were doing in China, we were not concerned with
these things until the war crimes tribunals. The Military was worried about
winning the war, to win the war against Japan we had to cripple their
ability to make war ships.
That was the reason for the Tokyo Fire Bombing, and the two atomic bomb
locations, it was not to directly kill civilians, it was to cripple their
ability to produce more equipment for the war.
Hiroshima was the center of Japanese ship building, it was and is today a
major port city, in this city, over 100,000 were killed,
The Bomb dropped on Nagasaki was also targeting Japan's ability to create
ships, Nagasaki was the second largest ship building port in Japan, and the
death toll here was put at 39,000 - 80,000.
If we were looking to kill people, we would have targeted other cities, like
Tokyo, were we could have killed millions.
I apologize for going off on this, I just don't think that we set out to
kill people for no reason except to show we could. Targeting the war machine
of the country is different, targeting people directly, is wrong.

not sure I agree with that. But in moral terms it seems clear that in
WWII Japan and Germany had to be stopped, right? Not only were they
committing atrocities they were taking over other countries to have
more places in which to commit atrocities. Dana
