Are you advocating that your bible's teachings be reduced to the law of the
land?  <shudder>

Any Christian, as well as Muslims and others teach that homosexuality is wrong
and impose strict sanctions.   Should the US become a Christian state, like the
Islamic States, where we have the religious police dictating all social
behavior?

This asked, there are still homosexuals.  The ones I know of, are employed, pay
taxes, mow their lawn, plant gardens, trim their trees, wash their cars, etc.
How can anyone discriminate against them insofar as "Equal justice under the
law" is concerned?  You do not have to approve of their behavior.  In fact I am
sure that there are many people that are in "traditional" unions that you do not
approve of either.  Is that a reason to persecute them or deny them the same
rights as everyone else has?  That is what the Constitution provides for, bus
"tradition" has been denying it.

To me, anyone who doesn't keep their property which is near to me clean and
manicured is an abomination as well - should I have the right to exclude them
from my neighborhood?

This is from the book of Romans and there are lots of instances thruout the
bible that talks about "men laying with men, women laying with women and how
  it is an abomination"

1:24 Therefore God gave them over
<http://netbible.bible.org/rom1_notes.htm#148> 48 in the desires of their
  hearts to impurity, to dishonor
  <http://netbible.bible.org/rom1_notes.htm#149> 49 their bodies among
  themselves. <http://netbible.bible.org/rom1_notes.htm#150> 50 1:25 They
<http://netbible.bible.org/rom1_notes.htm#151> 51 exchanged the truth of God
  for a lie <http://netbible.bible.org/rom1_notes.htm#152> 52 and worshiped
and served the creation <http://netbible.bible.org/rom1_notes.htm#153> 53
rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

1:26 For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. For their
women exchanged the natural sexual relations for unnatural ones,
  <http://netbible.bible.org/rom1_notes.htm#154> 54 1:27 and likewise the men
also abandoned natural relations with women
<http://netbible.bible.org/rom1_notes.htm#155> 55 and were inflamed in their
passions <http://netbible.bible.org/rom1_notes.htm#156> 56 for one another.
  Men <http://netbible.bible.org/rom1_notes.htm#157> 57 committed shameless
acts with men and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

1:28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God,
<http://netbible.bible.org/rom1_notes.htm#158> 58 God gave them over to a
depraved mind, to do what should not be done.
  <http://netbible.bible.org/rom1_notes.htm#159> 59 1:29 They are filled
<http://netbible.bible.org/rom1_notes.htm#160> 60 with every kind of
unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, malice. They are rife with
  <http://netbible.bible.org/rom1_notes.htm#161> 61 envy, murder, strife,
deceit, hostility. They are gossips, 1:30 slanderers, haters of God,
insolent, arrogant, boastful, contrivers of all sorts of evil, disobedient
  to parents, 1:31 senseless, covenant-breakers,
  <http://netbible.bible.org/rom1_notes.htm#162> 62 heartless, ruthless. 1:32
Although they fully know <http://netbible.bible.org/rom1_notes.htm#163> 63
God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die,
<http://netbible.bible.org/rom1_notes.htm#164> 64 they not only do them but
also approve of those who practice them.
  <http://netbible.bible.org/rom1_notes.htm#165> 65

I can find more on another day but must run and get the little guy.

::sigh:: I was trying so hard to stay out of this

Yes, there is an argument about that. I have never seen this proven to
my satisfaction, the best anyone has come up with being some quotes
about a man and a woman marrying. Not that I consider the copy of a
copy of a copy of a copy to be a definitive statement of the will of
  God.

Yes, you can be godly and openly gay. Apparently so. I didn't say it,
someone who knew the man did. I merely noticed it in passing.

  Now that is an onymoron:

a very godly man, openly gay.

The bible is definately opposed to homosexuality. Now there is NO argument
  on that one.

Episcopalians. The US branch (synod? diocese? whatever) elected a
  bishop who was

  a) widely recognized as a very godly man
  b) openly gay.

Personally I agree with the why should we care what others do camp.
Assuming all participants are of age and willing, I soooooooooo do not
care what people do in their bedrooms. Nor, in most cases, do I really
  want to know :) TMI.

Wouldn't the easy way to deal with this is create a religion that
allows/endorses homosexual unions that way the government couldn't make a
law that favors one religion over another?

  Marlon

IIRC There was a fairly big news story about one of the protestant
variations doing just this.  Their leadership had voted, by a narrow
  margin albeit, to allow homosexual
ministers/preachers/priests/whatever they called it in their
organization, apparently recognizing that segment of their
  congregations.
