I don't think people are upset about the fact that Bill Maher is able to
say what he says. I think it's more of, it was very distasteful and bad
timing. I'm so right that when I walk, I tilt to the right. Even as bad
as I dislike the guy, he has every right to speak his mind just as
everybody else in the free world does and those rights should not be
infringed upon. So, when we bash the guy, it's about what he said and
not about having the right to say it.
I still think he's a dick head.

As for Bill Maher, yeah, you are right. Let's see, where did I put that
First Amendment. Oh, while preaching my right wing rhetoric I
conveniently
put it away so those damn left wing liberals can't use it. "He also

his guest to describe the terrorists as "warriors"". How do you not
allow a
guest to speak there mind? Was it libel or slander? Did all of America
fall
all over themselves in astonishment? Outrage? No, only Fed-Ex pulled a

second spot. I imagine that if his ratings are okay, they will be back
after
some back room apologies are made, after all, this is really about money
in
the end. Most people realize and value the ability to speak there minds,
to
disagree with the status quo.

I don't always agree with him, but he does have a right to speak his
mind,
as do his guests, the same as Rush Limbaugh (what happened to his TV
show
anyway? He must be too busy getting divorces or something All American)
and
Bill O'Reilly.
If you right wingers can't take it, it's time to move on. What I find so
funny is how angry you guys (some of you) get at this. One minute you
run
around with flags screaming Freedom, the next you condemn people for
practicing it. Man, talk about dichotomy.
Also, if you think for a minute that dieing for a cause, any cause, is
cowardly, then I pity your way of thinking. Yes, by our standards it was
an
extraordinarily terrible act. Almost like the idea of flying over the
civilians in Dresden, Hamburg, or Tokyo to fire bomb them. Oh, wait, we
did
do that and killed tens of thousands of people.
Our boys must have been cowards too. Not that I believe that for a
minute.
They were very brave, one of them lives 6 houses down from me, 80 years
old,
part of his right neck and ear are missing, an Me-109 20mm shell blew up
next to the navigator station of his B-17 and tore into his neck. I am
doing
an oral history with him. I am a student of history, all of my life. I
have
been in the military book club on and off since age twelve. I have read
every Ambrose book published. I understand the need for war and
fighting,
make no mistake, even if people on this list think I am a "liberal". I
carry
a concealed handgun. I will not let people so easily label and pigeon
hole
me.
These men did what they felt was fighting a war. I detest that these
things
happen, for whatever reason, but to ignore what they believe they were
or
are fighting for is to make the same mistakes that led to this. To
continue
to maintain an arrogance that we are superior because they must be
cowards
will only lead to this happening again.
