I think they just didn't want mayors to start marrying gay couples like happened in other cities.
I mean i know its inconviencing people but it is not like they could get married before. The day they finally ALLOW it nationwide will be a day to finally be happy.

it sounds like gender-based dsicrimination to me....so yeah, I think
this will be found unconstitutional eventually. Eventually sometimes
takes a very long time however, so this is cold comfort to anyone
affected by this law.

I would suspect its eventually over turned by saying that it violates
the constitution.
My rationale is that if it was constitutional to stop gays from
marrying congress would have just passed a law banning gay marriage.
But since we all know that law wouldn't stand upto the supreme court
they floated the idea of a constitutional amendment.

I know that federal laws override state laws. How does it work with
